Booked into the Brown County Jail on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, was Kathy Sue Armendarez, 41, of Mullin.  She is charged with Criminally Negligent Homicide in connection to the death of her mother at Ten Mile Crossing back in May of this year.  According to Brown County jail records, her bond was set at $5,000.  Aremendarez bonded out of jail and was not listed as an inmate as of mid-day Thursday.

The arrest stems from the drowning death of Susan Smith, 59, at Ten Mile Crossing. Armendarez was said to be driving a pickup that drove into rushing flood waters at the crossing.  She and a male passenger managed to escape.  Smith’s body was recovered downstream of the crossing several days later, in the pickup.
