I’ve put together a weather timetable based on the forecast data I’m looking at early this morning for the Brownwood/Brown County area.
- The cold front had already pushed to Abilene and I-20 by 5:30 am this morning (Tues).
- The cold front should arrive in the Brownwood area by 9:00 am this morning (Tues).
- Temperatures will be falling into the 40’s during the day today. North wind will be 15-25 mph.
- Rain begins in the Brownwood area between 7:00 pm and 10 pm tonight. It will move in from the west.
- Rain mixes with and changes to sleet between 11 pm and 3:00 am Wednesday. I’m forecasting temperatures to reach freezing in Brownwood by 3:00 am Wednesday. Sleet accumulations of .10 of an inch or more possible.
- Sleet changes to snow by 6:00 am Wednesday with snow off and on through much of the day Wednesday. Snow accumulation is forecast to be rather light of an inch or less in the Brownwood but heavier to the west and northwest. Any slight change in the track of the storm system could easily change these totals.
- Temperatures will remain below freezing from roughly 3:00 am Wednesday through 10:00 am Thursday.
- Wind chills will range from 10 to 20 degrees Tuesday night and all day Wednesday.
- The low on Wednesday night into Thursday morning will be near 20.
- Temperatures will get back above freezing before noon on Thursday.
Roads are expected to be icy and hazardous from early Wednesday morning through noon Thursday. Today (Tues) is a good time to make sure you have plenty of groceries in stock for a couple days. Make sure pets and livestock have plenty of food and water. Wind chills will be brutal tonight and tomorrow.
