Moody Foundation Grant Awarded to Brown Co. Home Solutions, Inc.

Linda Heitman, Executive Director of Brown County Home Solutions, received confirmation Tuesday, February 25, that they are the recipients of a $50,000 grant from the Moody Foundation.  The grant money will finance construction of the next two tiny homes, a duplex, at Legacy Village in the 1100 block of Avenue D in Brownwood.

“I am super, super excited about it.  The Moody Foundation, based in Galveston, is a family owned foundation that gives millions of dollars to different communities and organizations every year for community service projects,” Heitman said.

Work  is currently underway on tiny home #5.  More than 20 volunteers worked on the home last Saturday.

“Right after we finish the fifth one, which I’m hoping to have the fifth tiny home finished by the end of March, I will go ahead and schedule the concrete and the plumbing and foundation to be done and we will get started on that right after number five,” Heitman said.  The goal is to keep constructing tiny homes at the site until 16 of them are available to help families and individuals.

The vision statement of Brown County Home Solutions is to address homelessness in Brown County by assisting homeless individuals and families or persons at risk of homelessness to quickly regain stability into permanent housing.  The 501 (c) 3 organization administrative office is at 1101 Avenue D.
