Bangs ISD to Release Information Saturday Afternoon on Plan of Action Regarding COVID-19

The Bangs ISD released the following statement on Friday night, March 13, concerning the COVID-19 threat.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) is dominating the news and has had an enormous impact on our nation’s health and financial security. Please be aware that throughout spring break, we have been closely monitoring the situation. We are gathering information from the federal government, the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the governor’s office, Texas Education Agency (TEA), Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), area educational leaders, news outlets, and public health leaders.

Saturday morning, March 14, the Bangs ISD administration will meet. There will then be a meeting of regional superintendents followed by a meeting of Brown County area superintendents.

At 1 p.m. we will issue a statement detailing the plan for the next few days and weeks.

The statement will include these topics:

Attendance choices for the parents and guardians
Suspension of UIL extra-curricular competition
The process for disclosure and clearance after a student has traveled to high risk areas of the world or nation
Suspension of field trips
Employee leave
Best health practices
Mitigation efforts that will be done by the school

We have discovered there are some certainties – your national, state, and local officials are being very proactive; panic is our enemy and preparation is our friend; there is NO need to stockpile goods; and resources are being made available to ensure the best possible conclusion to this pandemic.
