As of 4:55 pm, US Highway 84 between Coleman and Novice in Coleman County has mostly reopened.  The south bound lane is one lane only.

Saturday afternoon between 2 and 3 pm several grass fires started along US Highway 84 between Coleman and Novice.  Highway 84 was being blocked to through traffic in both directions so travel between Coleman and Abilene on 84 was not possible as of 4:00 pm.

As of 4:00 pm Saturday, numerous volunteer fire departments were battling the fires.  The fire is on the west side of the highway between county roads 457 and 479.  IMMEDIATE DANGER TO LIVES AND PROPERTY, EVACUATE THE AREA, according to an emergency text alert that was sent out in Coleman County.
