Barbara Fields of Brady, Texas peacefully returned home to her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 6, 2021, at the age of 87.
Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was a dear friend to many. Barbara was a secretary at Brady ISD for many years and was an active and selfless volunteer at the HOT Hospital over the last two decades. She was extremely devoted to God and scripture and helped organize many meals for church funerals and special occasions.
Barbara is preceded in death by her two parents, Grace and Ray Holt of Brady, her husband of fifty years, Willie Ray Fields of Brady, her sister, Virginia Beatty, her brother-in-law, Fletcher Fields, and her sister-in-law, Mary Sue Fields. Survivors include her children: Leston (Margaret) Fields of Brady, Kraig (Amy) Fields of Woodway, and Valixte (Tony) Swindle of Sugarland. Barbara is also survived by her grandchildren: Matthew (Jamie) Fields, Taffan (and fiancé, Jason Hastie) Fields, Meghan (Jarret) Laffoon, Amanda (James) Jensen, Chase Swindle, Holt Fields, and Noah Fields as well as her great-grandchildren: Jordyn Jensen, Jemma Jensen, Deanna Fields, Ellie Laffoon, and Easton Laffoon. Barbara leaves behind many close friends including her special beau and companion, Daymon McBee.
Barbara passionately served God and longed to share the passion with her friends and family. Barbara will be remembered for her faith, gentleness, loving-kindness, cooking, and precious smile.
The family will be receiving visitors on Monday, June 7, 2021, at Heritage Funeral Home of Brady from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Sunset Ridge Church of Christ with Virgil Webb officiating with burial to follow to Rest Haven Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Matthew Fields, Chase Swindle, Holt Fields, Noah Fields, James Jensen, Jarret Laffoon, and Jason Hastle.
Honorary Pallbearers: Daymon McBee, Delton Hendricks.
In lieu of flowers, you may make memorials in Barbara’s honor to the Heart of Texas Bible Camp or Cherokee Home for Children.
