Weldon Glenn Talley, age 88, of Brady, Texas passed away Friday, June 4, 2021 at his residence in Brady. Weldon was born February 20, 1933 in Brady, Texas to Charlie Fleming Talley and Lorena M. (Couch) Talley. At the young age of 16, Weldon enlisted in the U.S. Army. They eventually found out, honorably discharged him and he returned home. He re-enlisted when he turned 18. He married Nelda M. Spears on January 9, 1954 in Brady. He was a professional truck driver all of his working life. When he retired in 1989 he was driving for Central Freight in Ft. Worth. He married Opal F. Brown June 30, 2007 in Brady. He and Opal moved back to Brady in 2010. He was a member of the Brady Masonic Lodge and enjoyed traveling, playing dominoes, playing the guitar, fishing, playing cards and mowing the grass. He was a member of the staff at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels for several years. He was a member of the Community Christian Church in Brady.
Funeral services for Weldon Talley will be held at 2:30pm, Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady with Reverend Charles Stokes officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Ft. Worth. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels. Weldon is survived by his loving wife Opal Talley of Brady, Texas; daughter Anita Griffin and husband David of Weatherford, Texas; grandchildren Shawn Talley, Brian Edwards, Shelly Smithson, Dana Surratt and C.J. Kerr: great-grandchildren Adele Edwards, Alex Edwards, Austin Edwards, Samantha Hinistroza, Sullivan Surratt, Kennedy Surratt and Allie Johnson and several nieces and nephews. Weldon was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Nelda M. Talley, son Michael G. Talley, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
