Last year, on August 11, the pastor and members of North Lake Community Church presented a check in the amount of $2,250 to the May PTO for school supplies.  Wednesday, June 9, 2021, North Lake Community Church (NLCC) presented another check to the May PTO for $4,500 to aid in the school supply drive.

“That was in the throws of COVID.  They (May PTO) had made a decision to supply school supplies for all the students here.  With that check, $2,250, we thought we had completed our task.  Well, that was not to be,” said Ron Keener, pastor of North Lake Community Church.

Keener said several church members then stepped forward and felt they should continue the fundraising efforts on behalf of the May Parent Teacher Organization, to help the students in the May ISD and finish raising the desired funds for school supplies.

“We decided at North Lake Community Church that we would jump in there, and go into the deep end, and try to collect the balance of what they needed to fulfill their commitment to the parents and students for school supplies,” Keener said.

Over the last several months, numerous fundraisers were held, even involving some of the students in May ISD.  The results of the fundraiser were given in a check Wednesday to Frank Henderson of the May PTO.

“Frank Henderson, on behalf of our church, we believe in what you’re doing.  You know you have our full support.  So, I give to you today a $4,500 check.  That is from little kids doing things, and big kids doing things” Keener said.

In receiving the check on behalf of the May PTO, Frank Henderson thanked the church for its contribution.

“We really appreciate North Lake Community Church being part of the community and doing everything they do, not only for our organization, but for many other organizations.  I know y’all are out there and do tremendous work.  We thank you from the bottom of our heart” Henderson concluded.
