Nila Faye Eggleston, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.

Nila was born on December 15, 1938, in Lohn, Texas to Jack and Stella (Lackey) Whitaker. She married Alton Eggleston on November 12, 1955, and they were married almost 66 years.

Nila was a giving person and was always helping those in her community in any way she could. She volunteered at the Hospital, Thrift Shop, and at Helping Hands. She was also a member of the Sunset Ridge Church of Christ where she helped with preparing and serving meals for funerals and working the services and volunteered her help for Kids Camp.

Nila was also very devoted to her family and her home. She was an excellent housekeeper, and loved to paint, sew, organize, was a great cook and a fervent reader. She showed her love for her family in every way she could.

Nila was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Billy Whitaker and Buddy Whitaker, and grandson Colt Tipton.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Alton Eggleston; two sons, Jody Ray Eggleston and wife Denise, and Alan Curtis Eggleston and wife Burnadette; one daughter, Vicki Lynn Tipton and husband Barry; eight grandchildren, Glen Tipton, Casey Tipton, Jon Tipton, Josh Eggleston, Chase Eggleston, Kelsea Martinez, Madison and Dominique; one great-grandchild, Rhodes Tipton; a sister-in-law, Linda Whitaker; and several extended family and friends.

For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 10:00 AM at the Sunset Ridge Church of Christ with Virgil Webb, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
