The Lake Brownwood Bridge Volunteer Fire Department shared the following information on their Facebook page as of midnight Thursday night/Friday morning.
The Hwy. 279 fire is contained and we will be keeping an eye on it. Wind and humidity will continue to be bad. Residents of CR 456 (Oak Beach Road) need to pay attention and be ready. If a fire breaks out of the containment, homes in this area will be directly threatened.
May has a completely out of control fire near Rising Star and Carbon has had a devastating fire as well.
We just heard information of another large fire north of Hwy. 36.
May Fire Dept. just announced that the May ISD Gym is being opened as a shelter.
