Joe Mason Green, age 75, of Zephyr passed away on February 20, 2023.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 22 from 6-8 pm at Heartland Funeral and Cremation Services.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 10:00 am at Milton Avenue Baptist Church with interment to follow at Jenkins Springs Cemetery.

Joe was born on July 22, 1947 in Brownwood, Texas to Joe Ray and Winelle Green. His dad was a preacher, and the family moved several times during his childhood. Joe graduated from Slaton High School. He joined the army and served in the Air Defense Artillery, first in Florida and then in Germany. He worked with Nike Hercules missiles.  On June 4, 1976, he married Margaret Becktold in Early, Texas. They met in a computer class at Howard Payne University. They had two children. In 1988, they moved to the Green family farm where he would live the rest of his years. He loved horses, dogs, and history. He loved his family and could tell wonderful stories that stretched back over generations. He believed the Bible, and his faith in Jesus was his foundation. We all loved him dearly, and we will see him again someday.

Joe is survived by his wife Margaret Green, son Robert Nathaniel Green II; daughter and son-in-law Rebekah and Dakota Dean of Early; five grandchildren: Nathan and Joseph Green, and Abigail, Miriam, and Patrick Dean; a sister, Kathy; brother, David Green; and friends and extended family.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
