John was born to John Brown and Effie Mae (Duncan) Brown on March 30, 1953, in Houston. While living in Brownwood, John joined the military starting off in the Navy for four years and then joining the Texas Army National Guard where he spent the remainder of his career until retirement in 2013. John loved spending time with family, going to church, and hanging out with his friends and talking about good times. John loved helping with the Boy Scout Troop in San Saba and taking time to visit his grandchildren’s school to talk about being a veteran. He was an avid hunter of animals and arrowheads, and he loved going to gun shows and Army surplus stores just to see what he could find. John was a big fan of the Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed watching any kind of westerns and war movies. The best times in John’s life were with family, both real family and military family. He was a great dad and even greater grandfather.
