ABILENE – After suffering a 6-0 loss Thursday in the Region I-2A softball area playoff series opener in Early, the Bangs Lady Dragons drew even with a 14-4 victory that ended just after 11 p.m. Saturday due to lengthy weather delay at Abilene Christian University.

Due to the late finish, the deciding Game 3 between Bangs (20-9) and Stamford (20-8) will take place at 4 p.m. Monday back at Abilene Christian University.

In Saturday’s lone game, the Lady Dragons jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning and never looked back, tacking on a pair of five-run frames in the fourth and seventh innings.

Bangs generated 20 hits as a team led by Neeley Bradley with five, including a double, and one RBI; Justice Baker with four hits and one RBI; Abby Wolf with three hits, including two doubles, and a pair of RBIs; Mattisyn Taylor with two hits and two RBIs; Cheyenne Rush with a pair of hits, including a double; Julianna Ethridge and Jordan Valdez each with a double and an RBI; Emily Baker with one hit and one RBI; and Jadyn Miller with a single.

In the circle, Wolf surrendered four runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and one walk to secure the victory.

The series winner will advance to tangle with Anson or Reagan County in the regional quarterfinal round of the playoffs next weekend.
