Howard Payne University recently received a gift of $25,000 in scholarship funds from TexasBank through the James and Dorothy Doss Foundation. The contribution was provided as a part of the Doss Foundation, TexasBank Scholars – Heart of Texas Scholarship Fund, which was established to help area students attend HPU.

“TexasBank has been a valued partner with HPU for many years,” shared Dr. Dale Meinecke, vice president for advancement at HPU. “The assistance they provide through scholarships ensures that our students can afford the high-quality, Christ-centered education that HPU offers. We are so grateful to the Doss Foundation and TexasBank for their investment in our students.”

This year’s scholarship recipients are Bailee Bachtel of Brownwood, Addie Carroll of Brownwood, Chase Churchwell of Brownwood, Zachary Ellis of Brownwood, Brady Furry of Blanket, Austin Gray of Brownwood, Zachary Hallman of Stephenville, Travis Holleman of Brownwood and Jaxon Hermesmeyer of Goldthwaite.

Greg Dodds, TexasBank chief executive officer and president, expressed the significance of giving back to the community in this way.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people in our communities,” he shared, “and we look forward to continuing to support the educational aspirations of our future leaders. This is truly what sets community banking apart.”

TexasBank, through its ownership and the James and Dorothy Doss Foundation, regularly invests in student success. Over the past 11 years, $1.3 million has been given in scholarship funds, with $275,000 specifically awarded to Howard Payne University.

To be considered for this scholarship, students must have graduated from a high school in one of the following counties: Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, McCulloch, Mills or San Saba. Students should be juniors or seniors pursuing a degree in HPU’s School of Business and specializing in finance or accounting. More details on criteria are available from HPU’s Office of Financial Aid.
