Lady Lions golf season reaches its conclusion at regional tournament

LUBBOCK – The high school golf season concluded for the Brownwood Lady Lions Tuesday at the Region I-4A tournament, as River Jones and Tristyn Garcia were unable to punch their tickets to the state tournament.

The two-day, 36-hole tournament concluded with Jones, the District 6-4A individual runner-up, firing rounds of 89 Monday and 84 Tuesday for a 173 composite score, while Garcia opened with an 87 and closed with a 95 for a 182 tally.

The top three teams and top three individuals not on one of the qualifying teams advance to the UIL Class 4A girls golf state tournament April 28-29 at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland.

The two-day, 36-hole Region I-4A boys golf tournament, which features the 6-4A runner-up Brownwood Lions. will take place Wednesday and Thursday at Shadow Hills Golf Course.
