Brown County schools combine for at least 15 state track and field meet berths

Early, Bangs, Blanket, May and Zephyr High School teamed up for 15 berths into the UIL Track and Field State Championships based on their performance at regional meets over the weekend.

Early took part at the Region I-3A meet in Abilene, Bangs competed at the Region I-2A meet in Canyon, Blanket and May were in action at the Region III-A meet at Waco and Zephyr tested its mettle at the Region IV-A meet in Seguin.

Early will compete at the UIL Track and Field State Championships in Class 3A action Thursday, May 1; Bangs will be action against 2A goes on Friday, May 2; and Blanket, May and Zephyr will be in the 1A draw on Saturday, May 3.

The top two finishers in each event at regionals move on to state, the top third-place finisher from all of the four regions advances, and Brown County state qualifiers as of Saturday are as follows:

ZEPHYR

Ronni McClain – 1st in the girls pole vault

Ronni McClain – 2nd in the girls 300-meter hurdles

Haley Eason – 1st in the girls triple jump

Aaron Fagan – 2nd in the boys 3200 meters (10:26.91)

Kirstan King – 2nd in girls long jump

Avery Stevens – 2nd in girls 100 hurdles (17.16)

BANGS

Kasey Solis – 1st in the girls long jump (18-6.75)

Kasey Solis – 3rd in the girls triple jump (wild card)

Lady Dragons 4×100 relay of Kasey Solis, Abby Wolf, Valerie Razo and Cameryn Harmon – 3rd (wild card)

Lady Dragons 4×200 relay of Kasey Solis, Abby Wolf, Valerie Razo and Cameryn Harmon – 3rd (wild card)

EARLY

Camden Myers – 1st in the boys high jump (6-8)

Jamie Vassar – 2nd in girls shot put (43-7.75) – new school record

MAY

Ben Harrell – 1st in the boys 400 meters (51.15)

Kobey Morris – 1st in the boys discus (143-9)

BLANKET

Kannon Kensing – 2nd in the boys 200 meters
