Blanket’s Karli Kinkade earns silver medal at Class 1A girls golf state tournament

LEANDER – Blanket Lady Tiger senior Karli Kinkade saved the best for last in her high school golf career, as she earned a silver medal at the two-day, 36-hole Class 1A girls golf tournament at Crystal Falls Golf Course, which concluded Tuesday.

The silver medal was the third at state for Kinkade, who won the Region III-A championship four years in a row, and the runner-up state performance was her best overall after earning bronze medals as a freshman and sophomore.

Kinkade opened the tournament with a round of 80 Monday and followed with an 82 Tuesday for a 162 composite score. She trailed only Audrey Marler of Lenorah Grady, who posted rounds of 79 and 77 for a 156 total and a 6-stroke victory.

Kinkade edged third-place Rylee Wood of Garden City by two strokes as consecutive rounds of 82 led to a 164 total.
