
The Brownwood Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 1811 Austin Avenue at 2:37 p.m. Thursday, May 22.
Upon arrival, crews were presented with a large amount of fire coming from the garage. Fire crews were able to control the fire quickly. The garage sustained extensive damage, with no damage to the main residence. A large beehive was found in the wall of the structure which hindered the extinguishment. A local beekeeper was call to assist and removed the bees without harm. No occupants or fire personnel suffered any injuries. The fire remains under investigation.
An estimated cost of damages is $30,000.
It took 12 minutes to get the fire under control and units were on scene for 2 hours and 9 minutes.
Those responding were Chief 9, Chief 92, Engine 9, Rescue 9 and Engine 92, with assistance from the Brownwood Police Department, Lifeguard EMS, Atmos, and Brownwood Code Enforcement.
