Brownwood Lady Lions volleyball head coach Cheyanne Lovelady has resigned from her position to take the same job at Austin Brentwood Christian.

In two seasons with the Lady Lions, Lovelady guided the program to a 20-50 record, with a 13-23 campaign in 2024. The 2024 win total eclipsed the 2023 and 2022 total for victories combined.

I’m grateful for my time at Brownwood,” Lovelady said. “Here, I have built lifelong friendships and bonds with my athletes and students that I will always cherish. I was fortunate to advance my coaching career through the talent and high-level play that Brownwood offers. I look forward to seeing the success that these Lady Lions achieve in the near future.”

Lovelady, who came to Brownwood from Bangs, is rejoining former Lions and Dragons head football coach Kyle Maxfield, who is the athletic director and head football coach at Brentwood Christian.

Lovelady is a Bangs High School graduate, where she was a standout in volleyball. She went on to attend Howard Payne University as a member of the Lady Jackets volleyball program and graduated from there as well.

This is a path I believe God has set before me,” Lovelady said. “It has been a dream of mine to coach in the Austin area, and I’m excited to see where this new journey takes me.”

Brownwood ISD Athletic Director Mitch Moore said of Lovelady’s contributions, “Coach Lovelady did a great job these past two years. She has increased participation in the volleyball program which is a direct reflection of her hard work and dedication. She is leaving the program better than she found it when she arrived. I hate to see her leave but I wish her the best of luck in her new position. She will be missed.”

Moore added the search for Lovelady’s replacement is underway.

The first day of practice for the 2025 high school volleyball season is Friday, Aug. 1.
