
Brownwood High School graduate Matt McCrane and the D.C. Defenders captured the UFL championship, 58-34, over the Michigan Panthers Saturday night in St. Louis.
McCrane kicked field goals of 22 and 38 yards in the championship victory, making him 5 of 5 on efforts in the postseason.
The week prior, during the Defenders’ 36-18 victory over the St. Louis Battlehawks that clinched a berth in the championship game, McCrane drilled field goals of 34, 41, and 32 yards.
During the regular season, McCrane has booted 14 of 20 field goals with a long of 53 yards, while recording eight touchbacks on kickoffs. McCrane converted a league-high four field goals in a game against the Birmingham Stallions on March 30 and three in a game against the Memphis Showboats on April 5.
