He grew up in and graduated from Brady High School. He married Jaunita Garcia on March 25, 1972, in Brady. Elton was a true entrepreneur. He owned and operated several businesses in Brady for several years. Right out of High School Graduation, Elton partnered with and purchased his “full-service” station with Mr. McBride. He owned and operated Fisher’s Exxon for over 40 years. Along with the full-service station, Elton also was the owner of M&F Wholesale and Fishers Trucking Company. There was never a job or an individual that he turned down while in business. Elton was a big supporter and coach for Little League Baseball, was a big Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorn fan and loved following and watching his kids in sports. He was the first business to sell Texas State Lottery Tickets in Brady. He was a member of the Jaycees and helped found the World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-off in Brady. After his kids graduated from High School, he sold his business interests and moved to San Marcos with Juanita in 1999. Being too young to retire, he looked for something to do and teamed up with Ingram Redi-Mix. He worked there until he retired in 2016. Elton was a dedicated, honest and extremely hard worker with a work ethic rarely seen today. He enjoyed fishing, golf, swimming, dominoes, tic tac toe and country western dancing with family and friends. Elton was larger than life and always the life of the party.
