Independence weekend events at Lake Brownwood, Zephyr, Richland Springs, San Saba

The 14th annual Fireworks Bash, hosted by Wild Duck Marina, is scheduled to take place Saturday, July 5 near the Lake Brownwood Dam.

Fireworks will begin at 9:40 p.m., weather permitting.

General admission at Wild Duck Marina, which is located at 320 Hightop Drive, is $20, kids 10 and under are admitted free. Live music acts will include The Remedy from 8 to 9:30 p.m. and Ty Smith from 10 p.m. to midnight.

Other local Independence weekend events include the 6th Annual Freedom Fest at the Bluebonnet Barn at Paske-Whiskey Ranch. Located at 12601 County Road 291 near Zephyr, the event will take place from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, July 4.

There’s a $10 entry fee and a $10 cooler fee, kids 12 and under are admitted free.

Activities include fireworks, live music from the Davis Brothers Band, vendors, Mendoza’s and 1982 Barbecue, Pops and Silly Sisters, a free bounce house, a waterslide with a $10 wristband for unlimited use, and a mechanical bull at $8 per ride.

There’s fun for the whole family, bring lawn chairs or blankets, and BYOB (no glass please).

The Sandy Beach Fourth of July Independence Bash on Friday, July 4 will feature a golf cart parade at 7 p.m., a retirement of the flag ceremony at 8 p.m. and fireworks to follow. A prize will be awarded to the best decorated golf cart.

Sandy Beach RV Park is located at 100 Sandy Beach Road on Lake Brownwood.

All day Saturday, July 5 will be the Stars and Stripes Celebration in Richland Springs. Events include at parade at 8:30 a.m.; wild hog sacking, washers and horseshoes and kids activities at 9 a.m.; cornhole at 1 p.m.; a 42 domino tournament at 2 p.m.; a fish fry and auction at 6 p.m. and fireworks at dusk.

On Friday, July 4, the Country Fair Bonanza baking and canning contest will receive entries from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Richland Springs First Baptist Church. Winners will be announced at the parade.

San Saba is holding its Fourth of July Fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. Friday, July 4 at Mill Pond Park.
