Julio Aguirre Rodriguez, age 81, of Menard, Texas, passed away Monday, August 25, 2025, in Menard. Julio was born on July 4, 1944, in Menard, Texas, to George Rodriguez and Nicolasa (Aguirre) Rodriguez. Julio grew up in Menard and attended school in Menard. He married Ellen Louise Peterson on August 2, 1967, in Menard. He drove a garbage truck for the City of Menard for several years. After retiring, he did seasonal work for Ranch House Meats for a few years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting coins, knives, playing skip bowl and bingo. He was a simple man. He was a “stay at home grandpa.” He was a good father, stepfather, grandpa, and great grandpa. He was “Mr. Fix-it” for family and friends. He also taught his kids how to fix things. He was a Baptist. He was a lifelong resident of Menard.

Funeral services for Julio Aguirre Rodriguez will be at 3:00pm, Saturday August 30, 2025, at the American Legion Post # 378 in Menard with Reverend Baltimore Gonzales officiating. Julio’s remains will be cremated following the service. The family will receive friends Saturday, prior to the service, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at the American Legion. Julio is survived by Ellen Rodriguez, his loving wife of 58 years; sons Wayne Carlile and wife Alice of Menard, Texas, Ralph Carlile and wife Tammy of Midland, Texas; daughters Mary Sanchez and husband Sammy of Brady, Texas, Debbie Rodriguez of Menard, Texas, Tresa Salazar and husband Roger Guerro of Menard, Texas, Tammie Garcia and husband Steve of Tampa, Florida and Loretta Rodriguez and husband Stephen Rosas of Menard, Texas; brothers Pete Rodriguez of Menard, Texas and George Rodriguez of Colorado City, Texas; sisters Isabell Gutierrez and husband Ray of Menard, Texas and Nicolasa Garcia of Deleon, Texas; 29 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews and many friends. Julio was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Mike Salazar, three brothers and four sisters.
