Lina Elizabeth Holland (née Allman), 83, of Brownwood, Texas, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, peacefully into the arms of her beloved Jesus. Lina was born March 11, 1942, in Brownwood, Texas, the daughter of George and Ola Allman (née Nunn).
Lina married Joe Holland in their hometown, and they shared two beautiful daughters together, whom they cherished. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Brownwood, where she came to know her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as a young girl. Her relationship with the Lord was a precious and sustaining part of her life, which she shared freely with everyone.
Lina graduated from Howard Payne College (now known as Howard Payne University), earning a Bachelor of Science in Education. She went on to be an elementary teacher for about 40 years in a few different schools between Texas and Louisiana, with the majority of her career being in the halls of Woodland Heights Elementary in Brownwood. Lina made many dear friends during her tenure at Woodland Heights and maintained those friendships for many years after they had all retired from teaching.
Lina was known to her grandchildren as “Gran Gran”, and she took on her grandmotherly duties with pride, joy, and enthusiasm. All three grandchildren have many treasured memories of Gran Gran Camp, a yearly tradition for the grandkids to spend time together in Brownwood with their beloved Gran Gran. In the past couple of years, Lina was able to spend time with her two great-grandchildren, and she loved them dearly.
Preceding Lina in death were her husband, Joe Holland; parents, George and Ola Allman; and brother, Murray Allman.
She is survived by her daughters, Christi Dooling and Natalie Sadler (husband Mark Sadler); grandchildren, Brooke Wheeless, Bret Wheeless (wife Lauren Wheeless), and Molly Dooling Jahns (husband Todd Jahns); and great-grandchildren, Jesse Jahns and Owen Wheeless, as well as several cousins and other beloved family members.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 5, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6, at 10:00 a.m. at Heartland Funeral Home.
Flowers are welcome, and memorial donations in Lina’s memory may be directed to First Baptist Church in Brownwood, Texas.
