David Lee Hodges, 74, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully of natural causes on October 5, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him. Born on October 30, 1950, in Brownwood, Texas, to Author Connie Hodges and Dorothy Lee Sims, David grew up with a strong work ethic and a loyal heart that defined his life.
After attending school in Brownwood, David joined the grain harvest and later worked in the oil fields before moving to Fort Worth. There, he drove trucks and contributed to the construction of major freeways throughout the DFW area during the 1970s and 1980s. Eventually, he found his calling as a maintenance man, a role he held proudly until his retirement. In his later years, David returned to Brownwood for 20 peaceful years before moving back to Fort Worth to spend his final years near his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
David loved life’s simple pleasures—relaxing by the river or lake, picnicking, and sharing a cold beer with friends and family.
He is survived by his sons Jerry, Richard and Joey Hodges and preceded in death by his parents, his sister Carolyn Hodges and son Corey Hodges.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at The Link in Richland Hills, Texas, on Sunday October 19th 2025 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m . All who knew him are welcome to attend and share memories.
