Miss Fitzgerald was born on December 27, 1925 in Bangs, TX to Charles Earl Fitzgerald and Mamie Shaw Fitzgerald. She graduated from Brownwood High School and attended Tarleton State University to begin her first career as a medical technician. Having never married, she was everyone’s favorite aunt, called “Aunt Nook”. Known for her bright red boots, and independent spirit, she eventually took over running 2 cattle ranches full time. One small ranch in Dublin, TX, and a second larger ranch in the Brookesmith/Winchell area. She had a deep love for all animals and spent years as a single cattle rancher tending fence, roads, and ensuring her herds were well cared for. Having retired from cattle ranching at 91 years of age, she still enjoyed watching cats, birds, and nature of all kinds. She was devoted to all of her family, never forgot a birthday, and was always ready with a big smile when gathered together with loved ones. She was a devout Christian and was a proud member of Winchell Volunteer Fire Department.
Miss Fitzgerald is survived by her nieces Paula and husband Hoke Patterson, Linda Dansby, and great nephews and nieces, Joe Patterson, Troy and wife Zoey Rogers, Kevin and wife Molly Rogers, Danielle and husband Cory Howard, and Derek and wife Brandi Dansby, along with six great great grandnephews and nieces.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Earl Fitzgerald and Mamie Shaw Fitzgerald, her sisters, Aleene and husband Joe Patterson, Maebell and husband Garland Dansby, as well as her niece Carol Rogers, and nephew Stephen Dansby.
In lieu of flowers, she had requested that donations be made to the charity of your choice. Her favorite charities to donate to include St. Jude, Heifer International, Winchell and Brookesmith Volunteer Fire Departments.
The family is grateful for your care and love shared with them at this time.
