Justin Darrel Cupps passed away Friday, November 14, 2025 at the hospital in Brownwood with his mom, brother, daughter and special friends by his side. A memorial service for Justin will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early.

Justin was born June 7, 1978 in Brownwood, to Sydney Lea Cupps and was raised with the help of grandparents, Darrel and Lucille Cupps and his uncle, Richard Cupps. At 2 years old Justin and Sydney joined Bob D. Burleson and his daughter, Bobbie Jo Burleson in marriage where Justin gained grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. When his grandmom Lucille died, he had 2 special great-aunts, Maggie Wells Leonard and Thelma Cupps, step in and treat him just like their own. He went to school in Coleman, Bangs and then Brownwood while going up.

Justin was a country boy from the start. He loved driving tractors and pickups. At age 15, he moved to Brownwood. His friends started calling him “Butter Cup” because of his size. Unfortunately, some of his friends have passed before him. Justin had special cousins, Carolyn Leonard McGee and her husband David, he liked to hang with because of their mutual love of old cars. Justin was a big guy and had an even bigger heart for kids. Justin loved all kids and when his friends’ kids came over, he treated them as if they were his own.

Justin’s cousins, Cathy and Randal Dutton, introduced him to his favorite job, which was working on power lines, operating the bucket truck. He had traveled to repair damaged power lines in Louisiana, New York and Oklahoma, after large storms had hit. He also loved to cook and had worked at the Skillet Restaurant in both Abilene and Brownwood and more recently at Buffalo Wild Wings in Brownwood.

In August of 2003, Justin welcomed his only child, Chloe G. Cupps. The two had recently rekindled their relationship and Justin was a very proud daddy.

Justin is survived by his daughter, Chloe G. Cupps; mother, Sydney Cupps Burleson; brother, Ricky A. Burleson; many uncles, aunts, cousins and a crowd of friends.

He was preceded in death by his step-dad, Bob D. Burleson; two sets of grandparents; Darrel and Lucille Cupps, as well as, Jack and Gladyes Burleson; uncles, Jack W. Burleson Jr. and Joe Burleson; aunt, Betty S. Cupps; great-grandparents, cousins and friends, too long to list.
