Brownwood ISD issued the following press release Monday afternoon:

This month’s spotlight teacher is Reed Ellett. Mr. Ellett is a Life Academics teacher at Coggin Elementary. He holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Public Health Technology from the Community College of the Air Force, a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Management from Devry University, and a Master of Science degree in Information Technology Management from Trident University. Mr. Ellett also holds a Principal certification from Lamar University and is a state-certified teacher (Generalist 4-8 & Special Education EC-12). This is his eighth year with Brownwood ISD.

Mr. Ellett is a dedicated educator within our Life Academics programs. He consistently demonstrates flexibility by stepping in to support district needs and adapting quickly as situations arise. Mr. Ellett is deeply committed to helping our students develop essential life skills—including cooking, household responsibilities, and workplace readiness—to prepare them for life beyond school. In addition to his work in the classroom, Mr. Ellett also serves as the Head of Delegation for Special Olympics for Brownwood ISD.

Brownwood ISD is grateful for Mr. Ellett’s passion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to our
students.

Our staff spotlight honoree for the month is Sonny Garman. Mr. Garman is Campus Guardian at East Elementary. He studied Criminal Justice and Corrections at Central Texas College in Killeen. He joined Brownwood ISD in 2022 as a Life Academics TA at Brownwood Middle School and became a Campus Guardian in 2023. This is his fifth year with Brownwood ISD.

Mr. Garman is an exceptional person and true asset to the East Elementary campus. His commitment, teamwork, and positive attitude inspire everyone at East. He does more than just keep the students and staff safe. He helps clean, he helps in the cafeteria, on the playground, and in the office. Mr. Garman is an excellent role model for the students and he is a vital part of daily routines and campus events. The students love and respect him.

Brownwood ISD is proud to have staff members like Mr. Garman who no only keep our campuses safe and secure, but consistently go above and beyond to support staff and students.
