The University Interscholastic League on Tuesday afternoon released its cutoff numbers for football classifications for the 2026 and 2027 seasons and, as anticipated, the Brownwood Lions have dropped to Class 4A Division II.

Brownwood turned in an enrollment number of 877 back on Oct. 31, and Class 4A Division II will feature schools with enrollments between 550-895 students. There will be 102 schools competing in the Class 4A Division II football.

With enrollment numbers revealed by the UIL last week, projections for what districts might look like come Feb. 3 when complete realignment began to take shape.

The Padilla Poll anticipates the Lions will be housed in a seven-team District 4 in Region I, along with Brock (608), Glen Rose (613), Mineral Wells (894), Kennedale (916), Hillsboro (572) and Venus (665).

Meanwhile, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football has also released a mock realignment which also finds the Lions landing in District 4 of Class 4A Division II along with Brock (608), Glen Rose (613), Mineral Wells (894), Iowa Park (553), Graham (668) and Burkburnett (879).

Again, these are only projections as neither the UIL district and region breakdowns will not be released until Feb. 3, 2026.
