LAMPASAS – Playing for the first time since Jan. 22, the Brownwood Lions ran their unbeaten streak to five matches in their District 5-4A soccer opener, securing a 2-1 road victory over Lampasas Tuesday night.
The Lions (4-1-2, 1-0) received goals from Isaac Morales on a free kick, as well as Raven Prado with an assist to Jonathan Skrhak.
Lampasas (6-3-1, 0-1) scored on a penalty kick with 10 minutes left, but Brownwood staved off the comeback attempt.
“I’m very proud of the boys,” said Lions head coach Michael Westerman. “It’s always a tough match up versus Lampasas and having been off for over a week, but we understood the task at hand and completed the job.”
The Lions are off until Tuesday, Feb. 10 when they travel to Little River Academy for a 7 p.m. match.
