Brownwood ISD names Spotlight Employees for February

Brownwood ISD shared the following press release Monday morning:

This month’s spotlight teacher is Denice Bessent. Ms. Bessent is a third-grade teacher at Northwest Elementary. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Howard Payne University and holds certifications in English Language Arts and Reading (4-8) and Generalist (EC-4). This is her fourth year with Brownwood ISD.

Ms. Bessent is a breath of fresh air at Northwest! Known for her positive attitude and engaging lessons, she is a dedicated educator who consistently goes above and beyond for her students. She invests countless hours into curriculum research and thoughtful planning to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive. Her genuine love for her students shines through in everything she does, and she is deeply committed to growing them both academically and emotionally. Whether she is collaborating with staff or tailoring instruction, she always lends a helping hand with a smile on her face.

Brownwood ISD is proud to have hardworking teachers like Ms. Bessent who serve as a vital asset to their campus and truly make a difference.

Our staff spotlight honoree for the month is Megan Carrillo. Ms. Carrillo is a Life Academics Teaching Assistant at Coggin Elementary. She has
pursued studies at Howard College and holds an Educational Aide certificate from the Texas Education Agency. Ms. Carrillo began her journey with Brownwood ISD as a substitute teacher in 2020 and was hired for her current position the following year. This is her fifth year with the district.

Ms. Carrillo has proven to be a great asset, particularly during recent staff transitions within her classroom. She is always happy to help and maintains an unwavering commitment to student success. With a positive spirit and attentive care she ensures every student’s needs are met, providing essential stability and support when it matters most.

Brownwood ISD is grateful to have dedicated staff like Ms. Carrillo who go the extra mile for their students while fostering a nurturing environment where every learner feels truly valued.
