LAMPASAS – The Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 4A No. 19 Brownwood Lady Lions started the second half of their District 5-4A soccer campaign Friday night the exact same way it began – with a 4-0 victory over Lampasas.
The Lady Lions (13-2-1, 5-0) – who also defeated Lampasas (11-7, 1-4) by a 4-0 count at Gordon Wood Stadium in the league opener on Feb. 3 – pushed their win streak to seven and remained alone atop the 5-4A standings.
Brownwood’s offense was sparked by Nylah Hall, who tallied a hat trick of three goals. Two of the goals were assisted by Kynlee Jefferson, while Alayna Hernandez provided the assist on the third. Jefferson also got into the scoring act herself, with an assist from Madison Weckwerth.
Emily Diaz again notched a shutout in goal for the Lady Lions, who are off Tuesday and next see action at 5 p.m. Friday when they welcome Little River Academy (13-5, 2-2). Brownwood needed to emerge from a penalty kick shootout to down the Lady Bumblebees in the first meeting back on Feb. 10.
