At Monday’s meeting of the Brown County Commissioners Court, discussion was held concerning the relocation of certain County offices. In late 2025 the County purchased the building at 600 Fisk Ave., to be used for additional needed office space. Precinct 1 Commissioner Kirk Chastain proposed a preliminary list of County offices to be moved, which the Commissioners approved. In this plan, the following offices would be moved to 600 Fisk Ave.:
Tax-Assessor/Collector; Elections; Permitting; Indigent Health; Commissioners Offices; IT Hub; Climate Controlled Storage; Meeting Room.
The plan would also move the Treasurer’s Office back into the Courthouse, in the space currently occupied by the Tax-Assessor/Collector’s Office; and the Adult Probation Office would move to the County building at 613 North Fisk Avenue, which currently houses the Elections and Treasurer offices. The Commissioners emphasized that this is strictly a preliminary plan, subject to change. Moving of the offices will take place later this year.
In other business:
*** Commissioners agreed to leave in place the current Burn Ban
*** Commissioners approved an application from Oncor to install a private electrical line on County Road 136.
