BHS Marching Band earns Overall Champion Award at Heart of Texas Marching Contest

The Brownwood High School (BHS) Mighty Maroon Lion Marching Band competed at the Heart of Texas Marching Band Contest at Early High School on Saturday, October 14. The band earned a First Division rating from each of the judges. The band also won Best 4-A Band, Best Brass Section, Best Woodwind Section, and Overall Champion of the contest.

Contest judges praised the band with positive comments. Darrell Umhoefer, Midway ISD Fine Arts Director, stated, “Fine ensemble sound. Good fundamentals are evident. Well done. Good Show!”
“Good show, good job!” wrote Jim Bode, retired band director.

“Some really nice moments, best of luck at UIL,” commented Travis Hobson, retired band director from Wall ISD.

The Mighty Maroon Lion Marching Band will compete at the UIL Region 7 Marching Contest at Early High School on Saturday, October 21 at 4:00 p.m.

“Congratulations to the Lion Band for an outstanding job at the contest.” said BHS Band Director, David Lambert. He added, “Please come out and support your hometown band.”
