Brownwood Council to consider nominee for police chief position

When the Brownwood City Council meets Tuesday morning, they will consider a candidate for Chief of Police, who will be replacing current Chief Mike Corley who is retiring in a few weeks. The council will meet in executive session at 8:30 a.m. and then will convene into regular session at 9 a.m. Once in regular session, the council, upon recommendation of the city manager, will consider confirming the appointment of a new police chief. In other business, proclamations will be read concerning flood awareness week and motorcycle safety and awareness month. The council will also consider a resolution to declare a trash truck as surplus property; consider authorizing the mayor to sign a fifth amendment to lease with the Federal Express Corporation and receive reports regarding the Texas Water Conservation Scorecard, the Willis Creek Channelization Study presented by the Corps of Engineers and take part in the Oath of Office and Law Enforcement Oath of Honor being given to a newly hired police officer.
