On Friday, at approximately 11:15pm, emergency responders from the Brownwood Police Department, Brownwood Fire Department and Lifeguard Ambulance Service responded to the 4300 Block of US 377 South for a report of a single vehicle accident. Responders located the vehicle which had left the roadway and struck a large steel silo. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was not wearing a seat belt and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. The driver has been identified as Valton Shane Sudderth, 45, of Brownwood. Sudderth was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Doug Hurt at 11:58pm. Judge Hurt has ordered an autopsy. The accident is being investigated by the Brownwood Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
