Tommy Lee Smith, age 61, of Lohn, Texas passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at his residence in Lohn. Tommy was born December 28, 1956 in San Angelo, Texas to Charles and Claudie Smith. He married Patty Solsbery on June 21, 1975 in Lohn. Tommy worked at the Barrow Ranch in Eola for a time and then at Loadcraft in Brady before joining Central Texas Telephone Coop in 1979. He worked there until he retired in 2013 as the Central Office Supervisor and made many lifelong friends. He lived in the Lohn area most of his life. Tommy was very active over the years in the Lohn Community. He was a founding member of the Lohn Volunteer Fire Department and was the face of the cake auction at their annual fish fry fund raiser. He was the sexton of the Lohn Cemetery for many years and served on the board of the Lohn Valley Improvement Association, the Lohn Valley Protection Association and the Lohn Water Board. He was a member of the Lohn Church of Christ. He enjoyed poetry, camping, fishing, boating, family trips, sports and just being outdoors. He loved being around horses; riding, roping and breeding and going to the horse sales.
Funeral services for Tommy Lee Smith will be held 10:00am Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Sunset Ridge Church of Christ in Brady with Jerry DeBord officiating. Interment will follow at Pear Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady. Pallbearers will be Steve Fischer, Kyle Fischer, Ronnie Moore, David Huie, Ernie Johnstone, Buddy Williams and Mat Orosco. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Smith, Joe Nuncio, Mike Hahn, Ben Goodgoin, Conner Nuncio, Kolton Smith, Robert Allsup, Mason Allsup, Vance Thurmon, Zacharie Perez, Justin Solsbery and Ashton Harris. .
Tommy is survived by his wife, of over 43 years, Patty Smith of Lohn, Texas; his parents Charles and Claudie Smith of Lohn, Texas; Mother-In-Law Jamesina “NINA” Solsbery of Lohn, Texas; son Scott Smith of Brady, Texas; daughter Tammy Huie and husband Josh of Lohn, Texas; brother Paul Smith and wife Jennifer of Pear Valley, Texas; grandsons Tanner Huie, Jayden Huie and Tyler Smith. He was preceded in death by his brother Mike Smith. Memorial contributions in memory of Tommy Lee Smith may be made to the Lohn Church of Christ, Lohn, Texas.
