Brownwood TxDot district continuing project

The Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) Brownwood District contractor is scheduled to begin work on US 183/84 in the cities of Mullin and Goldthwaite on Friday, August 24, 2018. This operation will begin in Mullin and will end on the eastern side of Goldthwaite at SH 15 (Loop 15).

Please allow extra time if driving in this area. Work should be completed in approximately two working days, weather permitting. Sealcoat is a layer of liquid asphalt which is topped with small rocks. This is a preventative maintenance application that seals cracks and provides new wearing surface on the roadway. It also increases traction and prolongs the life of the roadway.

This year, the district’s sealcoat project includes roadways in Brown, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Lampasas, Mills, McCulloch, San Saba and Stephens counties. The entire project is anticipated to be completed by the end of August. Motorists are asked to use caution and slow their speed in areas of construction. As the project progresses through other counties, notification will be given to the public.
