Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit kicks off in less than three weeks

The time is nearing again for the Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit. The exhibit will feature original art by Texas artists and will be from February 10-23 at the Depot. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturdays and 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is free. The event will begin with a call for artists. Entries must be delivered to the Depot on February 1 between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. or February 2 between 9 a.m. and noon. The entry fee is $20 per piece, with a limit of three per artist. $7,250 in cash prizes will be awarded. This is open to Texas residents at least 18 years of age. The 14th annual paint-off competition will be February 23 between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the Depot. The public is invited, free of charge, to watch the artists work and to bid on pieces through a silent auction. There is a $20 fee for artists and works must be completed on site at outdoor designated sites within the six hours allotted. $750 in cash prizes will be awarded.

Artists will demonstrate a variety of art-making techniques February 11-22, weekdays only, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Depot. These demonstrations are free to the public, with Mondays being reserved for adults. For more information, call Martha Middleton at 647-6026.
