Faulty A/C at Coliseum – Repairs Approved

A faulty 26-year-old chiller system has gone out, leaving the Brownwood Coliseum with no air conditioning.  The Brownwood City Council heard about the problem in their meeting Tuesday morning.  One local estimate to repair the problem was $22,646 but the repairs could be done within 3 to 4 weeks which is the “quick fix”.   The other option was to replace the entire system which would cost in a range from $205,000 to $309,000, according to some local estimates obtained.  Due to a full schedule of events coming up at the Coliseum, including graduations, the temporary repair was approved by Council.  The city plans to budget for a study and new system in the coming budget year.  It was mentioned that some of the a/c system is now 34 years old.
