The Brown County Office of Emergency Management conducted a successful test of the CodeRED Emergency Notification System on Friday, May 3rd.
According to Brown County Emergency Management Chief, David Creed, 5,869 phone numbers were reached, 1,218 e-mails and 2,480 by text.
Chief Creed reports the messages, voice and text, were clear and strong with no discernible garble or breaks in transmission.
CodeRED allows government agencies to broadcast time sensitive information to citizens choosing to opt-in to the emergency notification system. This allows emergency management personnel to signal a warning or special information via telephone, cell phone, text, telephone devices for the deaf and email at no cost to citizens.
