What is now a field with pasture grass and a few small mesquite trees will soon be Coleman’s new baseball/softball complex. Located on the south end of 5th Avenue, west of the Coleman Rodeo Grounds, the complex has been in the planning stages for two years.
A Groundbreaking Ceremony will be held at 4:30 pm Wednesday, March 4, 2020 for the $1.5 million facility.
According to the Coleman County Youth Sports Complex Board, construction will commence soon after groundbreaking. They are hopeful that fields will be completed in July of this year. The old ball fields on the north side of Coleman will be used through this Spring season.
Being built is one championship softball field, one championship baseball field, two utility fields for either sport plus a t-ball field. The championship softball field will also be able to accommodate adult league softball. A large parking area and building for concessions/bathrooms/storage will be built. Fields will be lighted.
