BANGS – The Bangs Lady Dragons return to the win column Tuesday night, collecting a 25-6, 25-16, 25-13 victory over the visiting Richland Springs Lady Coyotes.
“That was big for them,” said Lady Dragons head coach Colleen Westfall. “They’ve been taking a few hits because we are so young and inexperienced. We’ve had some moments and some very good talks that were needed, but to get a win tonight was definitely something they needed. We had a lot of good spirits going on in the locker room tonight.”
Bangs offensive effort was sparked by 10 kills from Ashlynn Sliger, seven from Cameryn Harmon, five by Karlyee Sliger, three from Jasmine Lewis and Kynlee White, two from Stormy Stringer, and one each by Kylee Byler, Adalynne Stephens, and Cricket Caulkins.
Justice Baker finished with nine assists followed by Caulkins with five, Ashlynn Sliger with four, and White and Karlyee Sliger with one apiece.
Harmon, Baker and Ashlynn Sliger each served four aces, Byler and Caulkins chipped in a pair, and Stephens added one as well.
Defensively, Byler notched two digs while Stephens, Baker and Caulkins finished with one each, and Bangs did not tally a block
“We put some new stuff in, we’ve been working on different plays, trying to run those a little bit better, a quicker tempo offense,” Westfall said. “We messed it up a few times, but my young ones are getting better at it and getting more comfortable and that’s the main thing. Every game I want them to improve and get more comfortable.”
The Lady Dragons (4-17) are back in action at 10 a.m. Saturday as they travel to Zephyr (6-5), which defeated Evant, 25-15, 25-15, 25-8 Tuesday night.
