Lady Lion Rebekkah Delgado qualifies for state cross country meet

LUBBOCK – Brownwood sophomore Rebekkah Delgado qualified for the UIL Class 4A girls cross country state championships with her performance at the Region I-4A meet at Mae Simmons Park Tuesday.

Delgado placed 21st overall in a time of 12:31.6, but 10th among runner not on state qualifying teams to secure the region’s final berth to the state meet at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock Saturday Nov. 1.

As team, the Lady Lions came in 11th overall, while the Lions finished 19th on the boys side.

Also competing for the Lady Lions – who finished second in District 6 – were Lyndi Biasiolli (35th, 12:52.0), Ailean Palacios (63rd, 13:33.9), Jade Morin (64th, 13:34.4), Haylee Adkins (67th, 13:36.8), Destiny Sharp (80th, 13:57.1), and Joclyn Salazar (90th, 14:13.5).

For the Lions, the third-place team out of District 6, regional runners were Bennett Windham (51st, 17.26.8), Carter Massey (81st, 18:09.7), Adrian Skrhak (103rd, 18:37.1), Hayden Mair (122nd, 19:19.3), Reagun Munsugu (125th, 19:25.6), Brayden Musick (127th, 19:26.9), and Juston Burt (132nd, 19:42.8).

The girls state qualifying teams from Region I were Canyon, Canyon Randall, Canyon West Plains , and Stephenville, while boys teams advancing were Canyon, Big Spring, San Elizario, and Perryton

The Class 4A girls will run at the state meet at 8:15 a.m. the first day of November.
