Kelly Lynn Rogers was born June 15, 1970 in Pasadena, Texas, the first daughter of Michael and Priscilla Rogers. Kelly, with her beautiful red hair, alabaster skin and striking blue eyes passed from this earth on the cold night of December 7th in Brownwood, Texas

Kelly was a joyful, funny, outgoing, and brilliant person. At the age of 3-1/2, at a “Breakfast with Santa,” Kelly was asked if she knew any Christmas songs. She then grabbed the mic and began to belt out her rendition of Jingle Bells. Once she was finished, Kelly followed with two more songs and probably would have launched into song number four had the MC not gently removed the microphone from her hands. Both Kelly and her mother had the habit of saying “I love you tooooooo much!” every time they were around each other, and they really meant it. Kelly proved she had the patience of Job. To humor her mother, who was a huge fan of John Denver, she would often lay with her for hours listening to his music, just the two of them. Her Daddy, who was not known for doing such things, once waited in an incredibly long line just to purchase tickets for the two of them to see Star Wars on opening day. Kelly treasured this memory of her and her Daddy for the rest of her life.

Throughout her life, Kelly had many different passions and things she loved. She was a prolific reader and had amassed quite the library over the years; she had even written an 800 page novel that she was continuously working to perfect. Kelly’s intelligence spanned nearly all subject matters. She was Google before Google even existed. There really wasn’t a question Kelly couldn’t answer. She was also very much an artist at heart, in nearly all aspects of her life you could see the touch of a gifted creator. Her family and others have many of the wonderful things she made over the years. Kelly loved baking, and her favorite thing to make was her famous Lemon Apricot Cake that she’d bring to nearly all gatherings. Her family would sometimes tease her for it, but Amazon was Kelly’s best friend. She particularly loved buying imported sugar cubes from Paris… She was a bit boujee that way. Kelly was also a lover of animals, big or small, but her favorites were her two kitties, Peanut and Mew Mew, her dearly loved fur babies.

Kelly was a believer in Christ, and was baptized at the age of 12. She was extremely close to her family. Kelly loved her family and her family loved her. She genuinely took great pride in the accomplishments of both her beloved niece, Jordan Rodriguez, and her nephew Benjamin Perez. We as a family take the greatest comfort in knowing Kelly is once again reunited with her beloved father whom she’s missed dearly every single day of these last four years. Kelly, we will miss you and we love you toooooooo much!

Those left to mourn Kelly’s passing are her mother, Priscilla Rogers of Bangs, Texas; sister, Carrie C. Perez and husband Juan Israel Perez of Bangs, Texas; niece, Jordan Rodriguez and husband Jessie Rodriguez of Rhome, Texas; nephew, Benjamin Perez of Bangs, Texas; great nephew, Jessie Moses Rodriguez of Rhome, Texas.

Kelly was preceded in death by her father, Michael Rogers.
