Lions defeat Eldorado, fall to Abilene High JV at Brady tournament

BRADY – The Brownwood Lions stand at 2-1 heading into the final day of the Brady tournament after splitting their Friday contests with Eldorado and the Abilene High JV.

In an 81-59 victory over Eldorado, the Lions trailed 18-16 after one quarter, moved ahead 37-34 at halftime, and opened a 60-44 advantage heading into the fourth period.

Durham Brown and Jordan Gilbert both finished with a team-best 16 points followed by Elias Perez with 12, Cannon Calvert eight, Bennett Windham, Carson Noe, Riggs Gray and Tru Pesina all with five apiece, Santiago Valizo with three, and Hayden Brumbelow and Aaron Clevenger with two points each.

In a 54-48 loss to the Abilene High JV, Brownwood owned a 13-12 lead after one quarter, which turned into a 22-21 deficit at halftime and grew to 44-31 through three periods.

Calvert led the charge for the Lions with 17 points followed by Noe with 12, Brown with nine, Perez with seven, Judson Coalson with two, and Windham with one point.

The Lions (7-6) wrap up tournament play Saturday against the San Angelo Central JV.
