The District 4-4A Division I runner-up Brownwood Lions earned 23 all-district football accolades, as the roster was released following league champion Stephenville’s appearance in the Class 4A Division I state championship game Friday against Kilgore.
Leading the way for the Lions – who finished 7-5, made their 17th straight playoff trip and earned their fourth consecutive bi-district championship in head coach Jeryl Brixey’s first season – was sophomore defensive lineman Christian Gray, who earned Brownwood’s lone superlative honor as Defensive Newcomer of the Year.
Gray recorded 63 tackles, including 11 for loss and 10 sacks, in his first season of varsity football.
