
Artists from across Texas are invited to compete for more than $7,000 in awards, presented across multiple categories at the 28th Annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit. Intake of art work will begin this Friday, Jan.30, from 4-8 PM and again on Saturday, Jan. 31 from 9am-12pm.
Austin Uzor, Nigerian/American Artist (and art professor at both Alfred University of New York and Tarleton State University in Stephenville), living and working between Dallas and New York, will serve as this year’s juror. Judging will take place on Saturday from 1–4 PM, with selected works announced at 4 PM.
Several additional art-related events are scheduled for Saturday, January 31:
• Salon de Refuse, held at the Brownwood Art Center, 215 Fisk, from 4–6 PM. There is no charge to enter with Stars entry.
• Digital Photo Shoot Out, hosted at the Art Center, with registration open from 11 AM–4 PM.
• Annual Art Talk, presented by renowned artist Randall Cogburn, from 1:30–3 PM at the Art Center.
The Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit will open to the public on Sunday, February 8, from 1–5 PM, at the Depot Civic and Cultural Center.
The planning committee is also pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Family Day, scheduled for Saturday, February 14, from 11 AM–4 PM.
