Karen Ann Hext, age 73, of Brady, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at her residence in Brady, Texas. Karen was born on June 23, 1952, in Tom Green County, Texas. to Virgil Matthews Reeves and Wanda Jean (Webster) Reeves. She grew up in Big Lake and Abilene. She married Fritz Hext on November 7, 1981, in Brady. She had a feisty spirit and was a hard worker. She loved to be around her family and taking care of her grandkids. She was perfectly content to be a stay-at-home Nanny and work on her embroidery. She has lived in Brady for 13 years, moving here from San Antonio, where she worked in medical billing.

Karen is survived by her son Douglas Hatchett; daughters Kimberly Canter and husband Vernon, Shawnna Hatchett and husband Michael, and Ashley Ramon and husband Jeremy; grandchildren Natasha Roper, Tabatha Roper, Tyler Beam, Tiffany Stidham, Chelsea Parker, Sierra Ugalde, Larissa Camarillo, Scarlett Hatchett, Audreya Ramon and Brinley Ramon; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters.
