Local author to host book signing at Hasting’s

Saturday, March 5th, from 1:00-3:00 PM, visit with local author Kadee Carder at Hastings. Signed copies of Carder’s young adult science fiction novel, “Insurrection,” will be available for purchase and readers of all ages are invited. “Insurrection” is the first installment in a three-part series following the remarkable journey of Saylor MacTavish. “She was looking for a home. Instead, she found an adventure,” Carder said.

Sixteen-year old Saylor had been told she was a stain upon the cloth of mankind. When she and her sister orphans Micah, Denise, and Patricia are apprehended upon the high seas, they find themselves imprisoned on a Caribbean island filled with strange noises, dazzling beaches, and a secret military base. Wavering between terror and ecstasy, Saylor develops her inner warrior while facing an enemy who exposes her indispensable abilities. In order to rescue her sisters, impress the hunky Australian, and protect innocent lives on a global scale, she must master techniques of fighting an army created to destroy with a single, scorching touch — or die trying.

Reviews give “Insurrection” 4.5 stars, stating the book as “original,” “thrilling,” a story of “unwavering friendship,” which left readers, “rooting for [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][Saylor] every step of the way.” One review stated, “As a mom, I’m always looking for good stories for my 15-year old daughter to read, and Insurrection takes the cake. The daring heroine is unafraid of adventure but also not ashamed of romance. (I have to say, though, that it was refreshing to have the focus be more on the adventure and less on the romance!).”

“Insurrection” is now available at Hastings, Amazon.com, and BarnesandNoble.com. Links to purchase digital and paperback copies can be found on her website, http://www.kadeecarder.com. Chapter 1 can be viewed online. Each Friday, Carder previews one additional chapter on the site, available Friday morning until midnight the following Monday.

Carder utilizes a Master’s degree in Creative Writing by teaching English courses at the university level and received a distinguished faculty award in 2015. She maintains a blog on her website and has ghost-written a variety of other non-fiction works.

“Readers will feel a sense of camaraderie with the characters of ‘Insurrection,’” Carder said. “Hopefully, along with Saylor, they will find unexpected adventures and they too are capable of being more than they ever imagined.”[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
